Harmony – Day 3

February 27, 2019

“We’re on the same page” is a popular phrase. It means that people are working together or have similar intentions or goals in a relationship. If nothing else, it can simply mean that people are in agreement about a plan for an hour, day, or week.

It can be tempting to prove how different we are from the people around us. We can be different. It’s sometimes important not to compromise. But other times, by harmonizing our intentions with those around us, we’re able to make that difference count.

Sometimes it’s fun to say or do things to deliberately challenge or provoke others. Conflict can be good. And sometimes it’s important to stand up for our rights.

But some of us get addicted to chaos. We like the drama that comes from uproar. We may begin to mistake the high-adrenaline emotions created by chaos for love or think that’s the way life always needs to be.

We don’t want to get in a rut. But don’t underrate compatibility. It’s okay when things go smoothly too. Don’t worry. Change and challenge will come along soon enough, on their own.

Challenge: The hardest thing about harmonizing can be overcoming the fear that we’ll lose our identity or that we’re somehow giving in and losing by harmonizing with someone—or something—else. We can be ourselves and still be part of a couple, team, environment, or group. And we’ll have a lot more energy when we’re not using it to overpower someone or resist.
