Nurturing – Day 6

March 04, 2017

She ran a small stand, halfway up the mountain I was climbing in China. She didn’t speak much English and I didn’t speak Chinese. She didn’t just slam a cup of coffee in front of me. She gently put it down and smiled. Then she pointed to the sunrise, helping me notice how beautiful it was.

On my way down the mountain, late at night, when I arrived at her shop, she smiled and let me know how genuinely happy she was that I had made it back safe. Then she pulled out a chair and brought out a special treat—some kind of nut that I had never before tasted—and shared the delicacy with me.

She didn’t ask. She just did those things. Tender loving care might not change our world. But it sure turns it into a nicer place.
